The new MP-68 Blade moves away from the cut muscle design that the MP-67 had and resembles the MP-37 with the muscle back developing from the toe area. The muscle back lines and edges however are smoother on the MP-68 than the MP-37 and some in Japan have said it reminds them of the classic MP-14 with its curved muscle back and sharp toe. Mizuno has also followed suit with its 2009 design guidlines by placing the running bird logo on the sole and the model MP-68 with new MP logo in the toe corner. The 0verall head and face is very compact and coupled with the thick muscle provide the purest feel of any Mizuno grain flow forged blade.
For the last several years pre release Mizuno head only sets have popped up far before the official release date. They look perfect to the untrained eye but when put on the scale the head weights are off and the hosel size often appears to be over or undersized. This has been the unfortunate case for many of Mizuno’s MP models in recent years but its a consistent pattern. Right now there are sets on ebay and in certain forums of possible fakes. Im sure if you contact Mizuno they will say these are not Mizuno authorized products. This confuses us because we have been under the impression for many years that Mizuno Irons were made in the Chuo factory in Japan yet the origin of these imposters are Taiwan & Hong Kong.

France is still the world’s most popular tourist destination – Paris, charming countryside inns, campsites in Brittany, the chateaux of the Loire…There are many reasons. Yet, despite this success, the fairways of the 510+ courses in France are often empty. But once a golfer takes a French Golf Holidays, they’re smitten – here’s eight reasons why:

Easy Access

Just 100 miles from London you’ve got three of France’s great courses: Le Touquet La Mer, Hardelot Les Pins and Belle Dunes. Drive for another hour and you’ve got another batch of world-beaters…And it goes on. Whether driving, taking the train or taking a very short flight, you can arrive and play on the same day. As we say “So close, yet so different!”

The Value

Let’s be honest, France used to be ridiculously cheap. It’s no longer that but it still offers brilliant value-for-money. You can play 36 holes with a buggy at the Jack Nicklaus gem of Paris International (just two hours from Calais) for about £60 and you can play at Deauville for just £19. Compared to courses of the same quality, France offers far superior value. Where else can you play one of the world’s great courses all day (Fontainebleau) and have a three-course lunch and free use of a trolley and the practice range for less than the price of a round at an average course in England? For accommodation, France has updated its offering and working in a hotel has always been a respected profession. Generally speaking, you get four-star quality for a three-star price.

The Food

Need I say more? The French live for food…Children study food as part of the national curriculum from the age of seven and nearly everyone is a connoisseur. The produce is fresh, expertly prepared and served with style. Every region has its influence – the seaside, the rivers, the fields. You could tour non-stop and try a different dish every day for years.
It’s no coincidence that France has the greatest restaurants in the world and thousands of wonderful brasseries serving delicious dishes all day long. I often wonder how the menus are offered at such a low price (it’s probably got more to do with the UK over-charging!) Whilst we Brits concentrate on money, the French talk most about their food.

The Golf

FACTS: 22 courses in Europe’s Top 100. Links, parkland, target golf, woodland layouts.
Designed by the likes of Tom Simpson, Harry Colt, Robert von Hagge, Henry Cotton, Trent Jones, Pete Dye, Jack Nicklaus. 517 courses. Very few members. Chateau clubhouses.

It’s Better for the Planet

Air fares are climbing – charges for clubs, luggage, four types of tax etc. You can get to Northern France, Normandy, Champagne, Brittany, Paris and even the south-west of France within one to three hours of getting off Eurotunnel or your ferry, and no need to add to your carbon footprint in the process!

The Weather

As a general rule, the weather is warmer and more consistent that the UK. The South virtually guarantees sunshine – particularly the Languedoc Rousillon region. I find that the Loire River is the cut off point from being a few degrees warmer than “Old Blighty” to offering truly lovely weather.

The Fine Wine

Despite all the advances of New World wines, France is still considered to offer the best wines in the world. For red wines, Medoc; for white wines, Burgundy. Then there’s Champagne, the lovely light whites of the Loire, the fruity rose of Provence. Surprise, surprise, all those regions also offer stunning golf courses. There’s nothing nicer than playing a round of golf in the morning, lunch at the clubhouse or a nearby brasserie and stopping off at a chateau for a tasting and opportunity to buy great wines at very low prices. A very productive day!

The Culture

Culture plays a hugely important role in French society. From fashion to paintings, from architecture to history, you only need look at the attention and public grief at the recent passing of Yves Saint Laurent to realise what culture means to the French. There are museums everywhere and they make a great holiday for culture-vultures.

I could go on, but I’d be repeating the main points again and again: for great courses, fine dining, high culture and terrific weather, you can’t beat a luxury golf holiday in France.

A golf bag full of golf clubs might just be a golfer’s most prized possession. Vast amounts of money can be invested into the contents of a golf bag, and so you should keep it as safe and as treasured as you possibly can. When you first get your golf bag and golf clubs, you should do everything you can to personalize it and make it your own. This will lead to familiarity with your clubs and therefore more efficiency when you are out playing the game. It will also give you a real sense of ownership. Here I will discuss some of the accessories you can buy for your golf bag in order to increase its aesthetic appeal or its functionality and usefulness.

By putting all of your clubs into the golf bag, it is highly unlikely that you have filled it all the way up. There will be more room in the various compartments and pockets that decorate the outside of the bag. You should not leave these empty. Instead, fill them up with anything you could need out on the course. Put an extra water bottle in one of the pockets for when you get thirsty. Put a first aid kit in another pocket just in case something should happen. You should also include all of the obvious choices if you didn’t already – golf balls in large quantities, tees, and any other items you frequently use when golfing.

Once you have all of the practical accessories for golf bags taken care of, you can start to get into the more “fun” novelty items. There is no shortage of things you can attach to your golf club, whether it’s to get a laugh from your friends or simply to remind you of something. Little plush keychain-like items can be attached at many points all across the golf bag. This could be a small stuffed golf ball, or some sort of figurine. If there is something that you would like to have, it should come to mind immediately. You shouldn’t have to strain yourself to think of something to decorate your golf bag with.

If you want an easy way to identify your golf bag, you can have your name attached to it somehow. This could be in the form of some sort of embroidery project (do you have a girlfriend, wife, or daughter who embroiders as a hobby? Maybe it’s time to ask for a favor) or simply some scribbles with a sharpie. It doesn’t matter how you get it done, but it’s very important that you have some indication that the golf bag is yours in the event that it gets lost on the golf course. When someone recognizes your name and returns your expensive clubs, you will be glad that you put the name on the bag.

There is no limit to the ways that you can personalize your golf bag with accessories. However, the keyword here is “personalize”. If you are taking all of your ideas from something you read on the internet, then that isn’t very personal, is it? All I can do is offer you a few hints to get you started in the right direction, and from there you can decide on what exactly defines you as a person and what can help you out while you are golfing.

No golfer is complete without an odd and eccentric arrangement of strange accessories to help him get through the day. Golfers certainly have a lot to choose from, since it is one of the most accessorized sports out there. If you are looking for some nice golfing accessories, either for yourself or as a gift for a golfing loved one, you will have no problem finding something that will tickle your fancy. Here I will discuss some of the most practical golf accessories. There are many more than the ones that will be discussed here, but most of them are hardly able to be classified as useful. If you are looking for more of a gag gift, you may want to look elsewhere. However, if your needs include a useful golf accessory, read on.

Motorized golf caddies are devices that will carry the golfer’s clubs alongside him as he walks. Rather than straining himself by carrying the clubs manually, he can simply enjoy a stroll through the scenic golf course while the motorized caddy does most of the hard work. Before you buy one of these, you should be sure that the recipient will have a need for it. Some golfers prefer to leave their clubs in their golf cart, or to simply hire a human caddy. Find out about the golfer’s habits, and decide for yourself whether you think he would find a motorized caddy useful or not. The prices can run fairly high, so you want to make sure that the enjoyment is worth the money.

Home training equipment is also very popular in the golfing community. There are many different devices that are meant to teach golfers to swing with better technique in the comfort of their own homes. These are known as golf swing trainers, and are generally more on the expensive side than any other golf gift. There are quite a few different choices, from the basic home putting green to more advanced accelerometer-enhanced clubs that will detect your swinging angles and speed. Again, this is not the kind of gift that you should buy out of nowhere. Discuss it with the person you would like to give it to, and make sure that it would be put to good use.

Overall, you should know that golfers are a fairly easy crowd to please. Anyone who is happy just hitting balls with sticks all day will have no problem entertaining themselves with any of the gimmicky or novelty gifts that you can come up with. Therefore if you are trying to find one of the top golf accessories for yourself or a golfing friends or family member, you shouldn’t worry too much about finding the perfect thing. As long as they have decent clubs, they should be set. Golf clubs are by far the most expensive part of a golfer’s arsenal of items, and the most important part as well. If you want to buy golf clubs for someone, you would probably do better to give them a gift certificate or coupon so that they can choose them on their own.

Another gift that is great for golfers is some sort of trip to a golf course that they would really enjoy going to. Sometimes an avid golfer doesn’t have the time (or doesn’t give himself enough of a break) to visit some of the nicer or more exotic golfing locations. If you really want to surprise and delight a golfer, you should plan a golfing vacation to one of the nicer locations in the world. Maybe a place where you can golf for most of the day, then swim in the ocean for a few hours before heading to your deluxe hotel. Usually if you plan it right you can keep the cost from being too insanely high, but most of the time it is better to indulge yourself and spend what it takes to have a great time.

Golf is one of the most popular pastimes in this country, for both young and old. Golfers contentedly while away their days on the sunny green talking politics and weather, enjoying the recreation as if it were a fine aged whiskey before a roaring fireplace. Like any sport, however, you must start with the basics before you enjoy the true benefits of playing with this sort of graceful ease. For beginners, one of the most important pieces to begin with is the right equipment, and quite arguably the most important device is the club. The standard beginning golf set generally includes the following clubs-which as your skill increases, will alter once you get a feel for what works best with your grip, swing and control, but for starters-: 3 woods (1-driver, 3, and 5), 8 irons (3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and a pitching wedge), and a putter. This useful arsenal of 12 clubs will help you make different plays possible, depending on distance and loft (the angle of the club’s face inversely related to the distance needed). To fully understand the dynamics of each club, let’s take a look at each one below in detail.

Woods

The three woods included in your standard beginning golf set should be the 1 wood or driver, the 3, and the 5 (commonly referred to as Fairway Woods). This classification of golf clubs is used for maximum distance. Typically, the distance to the green should be a minimum of 175 yards or more away from you, when you use a golf wood. The 1 wood or driver as it is most commonly referred to, has the lowest loft of the woods. The loft or angle of the club’s face in relation to the ball is between 7 and 12 degrees (depending on skill). Having a low loft will help you send the ball further (or drive the ball) rather than higher. The 3 wood has a loft between 15 and 18 degrees, and the 5 wood a loft between 20 and 22 degrees; and so you can see that with each successive type of wood, the loft is higher and the capacity for distance less. Moreover, it is worthwhile mentioning that the higher the golf club number (woods and otherwise), the shorter the golf club. This is to minimize the arc of the swing, thereby slowing its momentum and lessening the distance of the play.

Irons

The eight irons included in your standard beginning golf set should be the 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and pitching wedge. As noted earlier, the higher the club number, the shorter the club and the higher the loft. The higher the loft, the lower the distance incurred with a swing. The 3-9 irons offer varying distances for your varying short distance tees. The pitching wedge typically has a loft of 48 degrees for a very close tee. The purpose of irons is generally for distances of less than 200 yards away. It is useful to add that there are a variety of wedges, besides the standard pitching wedge, that seasoned golfers employ. As a beginner, a pitching wedge will do just fine; but in time, you’ll need the rest: approach wedge, sand wedge, lob wedge, high lob wedge, and last wedge (with a varying loft of 52-68 degrees).

Putters

The putter included in your standard beginning golf set is used simply as the last maneuver, to play the ball to the hole. You are almost on top of the hole at this point, and the putter is used to sink the ball. Though a standard putter will work for beginner golfers, it is again necessary to point out that seasoned golfers carry a variety of golf putters in their bags to deal with varying needs in those final seconds of sinking the putt. Other types of putters to learn about in the future include: short, belly, long, bent, center-hosel, heel-toe, mallet, etc.

So there it is: an introduction to what to include in your golf set on those first sunny days on the green. More importantly, having discussed how and when to use the different woods, irons, and putters you should be up to trying your hand at the sport so many call their favorite pastime: the age old game of golf.

“The New NXT Tour and New NXT deliver even higher performance and longer distance, further establishing each model as benchmarks in their respective categories,” said George Sine, Vice President, Golf Ball Marketing and Strategic Planning, Acushnet Company. “Based upon comprehensive machine testing, as well as positive feedback captured during player testing with current NXT family loyalists and competitive golf ball users, we have delivered two exciting new ways for golfers to lower their scores.”

NEW NXT TOUR: Utilizing advanced multi-layer technology, the New NXT Tour will be longer off the driver and long irons for most golfers, while delivering consistent shot-stopping greenside control, soft feel on all shots and outstanding durability.

• Large, faster 1.58″ dual core, multi-layer design provides longer distance and soft feel on all shots.
• Soft, thin, more durable Fusablend cover contributes to soft feel and exceptional control into and around the green.
• Conversion to a low-count, high-coverage Tour-proven 332 Icosahedral dimple pattern in seven different sizes combined with a Staggered Wave parting line contributes to enhanced aerodynamics and longer distance off the driver and long irons.
• Tour-validated A.I.M. (Alignment Integrated Marking) sidestamp assists in alignment at address off the tee, as well as when putting.

“The new, advanced design of the NXT Tour offers an outstanding balance of overall high performance and control,” said Bill Morgan, Senior Vice President, Golf Ball Research & Development, Acushnet Company. “The New NXT Tour pushes the envelope of advanced multi-layer solid core technology, delivering longer distance, soft feel and shot-stopping spin.”

NEW NXT: The newly designed NXT replaces the NXT Extreme, and improves upon its predecessor’s promise of extreme distance and straight ball flight. With high speed and low spin, the NXT provides the straightest flight within the Titleist golf ball family, and is also the most durable Titleist golf ball.

• Large and fast 1.575″ solid core provides high velocity for extreme distance.
• Ionomer cover contributes to low spin on all shots for long, straight distance.
• Higher coverage 332 Icosahedral multi-dimple pattern combined with a Staggered Wave parting line contributes to enhanced aerodynamics.
• A.I.M. (Alignment Integrated Marking) sidestamp assists in alignment at address off the tee and while putting.
• Cut-proof cover durability.

“The New NXT strengthens Titleist’s leadership position within the solid technology segment,” said Sine. “The New NXT has been designed to deliver best in category distance, straight flight and durability.”

ADVERTISING AND PROMOTION: To generate awareness and excitement of the performance advancements to the New NXT Tour and NXT products, the NXT launch will be supported by an extensive television, print and internet advertising campaign. Television commercials will feature personalities Scott Van Pelt and Di Stewart, while the print campaign will communicate the product benefits and performance improvements, positioning the new models as “Two New Ways to Go Low.”
